Being An Elven Soul....
I suspect that if you ask ten elves about what being elven means to them, you will get at least five different answers. That aside, here are my views.
Its not as if I never felt different. I always have done, though for much of my life, I couldnt put a finger on what caused it, other than shrugging it off as a personality difference. When I did come to find out why, it explained more than I could have imagined. For example, I found that several skills that are usually learned, and which I had an instinctive understanding or ability for: including herbal medicine, archery, freediving, astral travel, communication with animals, an ability to detect auras, all seem to go back to these lives. My personality is similar to how I was then - and not all subsequent lives have been like that at all.
So what does it mean to me? It means that I am much closer to understanding myself, and my foibles! I am someone who needs to be close to nature - that translates into, as far as is possible, a sustainable lifestyle, spending time out in the wilds, being able to see other spirits, including some faery. Honour means an awful lot to me, and I can get very annoying/ed when expected to act outside of that. I am born into a long lived (going on to late 90's and upwards, unless severe illness or accident cuts things short) human family, which I suspect is the most compatible way for an elf to incarnate - we were never immortal, despite what Tolkien writes - but more long lived. Nevertheless, I still feel instinctively that this is a short span! and I am proud of what I believe I am.
Sometimes I do find it very hard to understand things, that the humans among whom I am incarnate, do or think. That was the case long before I awoke to my true nature, and that, in essence is where the differences come in. Too much artificial food or cosmetics also are not good around me.
At the end of the day, its me, the real me, not what I am expected to appear as, in the here and now. Its my true self, and for better or for worse, thats how I will remain.
